OK it’s not the greatest news in the world, but thought I would post it as it has cheered me up right now that I have enrolled on 2 college courses.
They are for adults only and are both only a couple of hours each week. One is an introduction to counselling and the other is psychology (funnily enough the AS course that I dropped out of when I was 16, just 22 years ago! LOL)
I hope it will all go well for me in them as it will be a whole lot different to being indoors working from home in hibernation and solitude a lot of the time. I hope to get on well with my classmates, gain some confidence, and learn in a classroom environment towards qualifications and a new line of work eventually, in years to come. We have already talked of me doing a ‘talk’ on schizophrenia next year at the college, from my experiences with my mum who had catatonic schizophrenia and my dad as her carer.
I have to thank those who support me on Twitter, facebook and other, and those who have read and supported my memoir giving feedback on the knowledge they gain by my writing. I don’t think anyone realises just how touched I am in knowing I might just be able to help some people in the future in the field of mental health.
Knowing my writing and sharing my story helps those affected in any way by mental illness is making me feel stronger than ever and gives me a further goal towards creating a life worth living for myself and those who need to find theirs. Really.
Take care,
Amanda
